Search Hollywood Street Records

A house number can lead to far more than a dot on a map. To search Hollywood streets by address, first match the location to its county parcel, then compare the titled owner with deeds, permits, and older household sources. The Hollywood street directory is therefore a careful chain of public records, not a live list of every person behind each door. That distinction matters in a city where postal labels can cross city lines and an owner's mail may go somewhere else. Use the parcel and legal description as steady keys, then add occupancy evidence only when an official or historical source supports it.

Walk a Hollywood Street by Address

A useful Hollywood street directory begins with the exact property, not a guess about a household. The Broward County Property Appraiser, or BCPA, turns a street address into the titled owner, folio, property address, mailing address, legal description, exemptions, and sales references. The folio is Broward's parcel identifier. From there, the BCPA Web Map lets a reader move to nearby lots. Official Records supplies recorded transfers, while city permits and older directories add dates and names that the ownership roll cannot provide.

Keep ownership and occupancy in separate columns. A deed names the parties to a transfer. It does not list every past or present occupant. The voter status tool is built for individual verification, not open browsing by street, and protected addresses are withheld. Reverse directories and released census schedules are better suited to older household questions.

  1. Run the number and street through BCPA Property Search. Save the folio, owner, situs address, and legal description.
  2. Open the BCPA Web Map. Zoom to the parcel, then click along the same street segment.
  3. Use sales book/page or instrument references in Broward Official Records. Match the legal land description before accepting a deed.
  4. Check permits and code cases by address. Search both current and legacy systems when the record date spans Hollywood's portal change.
  5. For an older occupant, consult reverse directories, public census schedules, newspapers, and archives. Verify each name in a second source.

Turn Hollywood Addresses Into Folios

BCPA supports owner, address, and Property ID searches, plus specialized sales, subdivision, commercial, land, and time-share modes. Its parcel card distinguishes the Property Address from the Mailing Address. The first is the parcel's physical, or situs, location. The second is the destination for tax mail. A mismatch may suggest that the owner receives mail elsewhere, but it cannot prove who lives at the property.

The parcel result can also show property use, year built, effective year, building area, zoning, a short legal description, values, exemptions, and sales history. A homestead exemption can support an owner-occupancy inference for the relevant tax date. It still does not identify a whole household. Those limits make the BCPA card a strong first record, not a final answer.

Browse Hollywood Owners Along Streets

In the BCPA map, Search By Address asks for the house number and street name. The map instructs users to omit east, west, north, or south markers and street types such as Street, Avenue, or Boulevard. Choose a suggested match, zoom until parcel boundaries are clear, and click a polygon. The parcel panel then supplies the folio, owner, situs address, legal description, use and value facts, exemptions, recent sales, building size, and neighborhood tag.

Use Collect Parcels to hold several lots in a selection. Unselect Parcel removes a mistake, while the Layer List and measuring tool add context. Condominiums need special care because many units can share one visible address or footprint. A whole named-street project belongs here; a tight circle around one home is better handled through the Hollywood neighbors lookup.

Parcel
A legally defined piece of land tracked under one county folio.
Situs address
The physical property location, distinct from the owner's mailing address.
Plat
A recorded map that lays out a subdivision, lots, blocks, and related boundaries.
Criss-cross directory
A directory arranged by street and house number rather than only by surname.

Hollywood Street Records Side by Side

No single public source supplies a complete household list. The address-keyed sets below answer different questions. Together, they let a Hollywood street directory separate a titled owner, a mapped parcel, a recorded transfer, and work performed at the site.

Use the folio and legal description when moving between the parcel and deed systems. Use the normalized street address for permits. Broward voter data may be requested through the Supervisor of Elections, but the public voter-status form requires a person's identifying details and is not a street browser. Florida also withholds protected addresses and key identifiers.

The Broward County Records, Taxes and Treasury Division keeps Official Records. Start with the sales citation on a BCPA card, or transfer the exact owner name to the recorder's index. Search modes include Name, Book/Page, Document Type, Instrument Number, Case Number, Consideration Amount, Date Recorded, Simple Search, and Parcel ID. A result can expose party roles, record date, document type, book and page, instrument number, legal data, and an image when available.

Full web searching begins on July 7, 1977. The interval from March 9, 1972 through the cutover has limited instrument, book/page, and date access. Earlier records require Search and Copy at 115 South Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. The county reports broad older media holdings reaching 1871, while its deed guidance describes real-property documents since 1883. Certified copies are available at the counter or by mail. If book and page are unknown, a search fee applies.

Recorded presence proves that an instrument was filed, not that each statement in it is true. Match the legal description and party role before adding a name to a street history.

Hollywood Address Permits Use Two Systems

Hollywood's permit trail changed on August 4, 2026. Accela handles new applications and descriptive Accela record numbers. Older BCLA numbers, commonly one letter plus a year, remain in the legacy search. This split makes a no-result in one portal inconclusive. Search the other system, then ask the Building Division or City Archives when an older file still does not appear.

The Hollywood permit hub routes users to both systems and shows how an address search can return the date, record number, type, project name, status, and address.

Hollywood street directory permit search routing

That routing is crucial when a street's work history spans the digital cutover. The Building Division also assists by phone at 954-921-3335, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Insider tip: A permit gap is not proof that no work occurred. Some plans and permit histories held by Hollywood Records and Archives start in 1949.

Hollywood Code Records by Address

Code Compliance adds a different layer to a street directory. Special Magistrate agendas can list a property address, cited code section, case number, and hearing or lien context. Search Accela's Code Compliance category first. Then consult agendas by hearing date or submit a focused public-record request for the underlying file when the web entry is incomplete.

The Hollywood Code Compliance page explains the official channel and office role.

The screenshot is a route to case evidence, not proof about any private person. Certain complaints require the complainant's name and address under Florida law, so the process is not uniformly anonymous.

Hollywood Mailing Lines Can Mislead

A Hollywood postal label does not prove municipal jurisdiction. The city's own crosswalk covers eight property ZIP areas, including 33312, 33314, and 33316. Oakridge, Maple Ridge, and Arapahoe Farms are Hollywood communities within 33312 postal geography, while Port Everglades is partly in Hollywood within 33316. The reverse problem also occurs: familiar Hollywood ZIPs extend into nearby places.

Check the BCPA municipality or taxing district, folio, situs address, and legal description. Broward GIS offers ZIP boundaries, address points, annexation history, and historic aerials. USPS confirms delivery ZIPs, not city limits. This is the core myth to discard when searching by street.

Old Hollywood Streets Need Two Names

Hollywood's early plan grew around three circles rather than a plain grid. Young Circle was first called Harding Circle, and Hollywood Boulevard ran through the plan as a major east-west axis. An old plat, newspaper, photo, or directory may therefore use Harding Circle when a modern record expects Young Circle. Search both names, then use the lot, block, subdivision, and plat citation to bridge the wording change.

The city extended Hollywood Boulevard west from State Road 7 to U.S. 27 in 1954. A western boulevard address should not be assumed to exist in a much earlier directory. Annexations and the post-1926 secession of Hallandale and Dania also altered what “Hollywood” could mean in older sources. This local history makes legal land identifiers more dependable than a street label alone.

Hollywood Archives Fill Street Gaps

When both permit systems fail, Hollywood Records and Archives is the documented fallback. Its municipal records begin with incorporation, photographs and postcards reach to 1921, and some archived property plans and permit histories begin in 1949. A file may identify an architect or builder and show system locations, dimensions, and later alterations. Those facts date a structure more precisely than the parcel alone.

Review the Hollywood Records and Archives holdings before framing a focused request.

The archive route is especially valuable for postwar streets and additions that predate today's online systems.

Read Historic Hollywood Streets in Reverse

A reverse, or criss-cross, directory sorts entries by street and house number. It can show a listed occupant where a deed shows only the owner. Exact Hollywood volume years and publishers were not established in the official online catalogs, so ask the State Library and Broward Special Collections for holdings before claiming a run. The Hollywood city directory collections explain how to verify a volume and its key.

Pair any directory entry with the nearest public federal census, released through 1950 as of 2026. Newspapers and obituaries can resolve a move or death. Always read the volume's own abbreviation key, and do not treat a householder entry as proof of title.

Limits of Hollywood Street Directories

A Hollywood street directory cannot reliably name every renter, child, guest, or household member. Deeds and assessments identify title interests. Homestead can support a narrow inference, but it is not a household roster. The public voter tools are restricted by required inputs and statutory exemptions. Driver address data is closed under federal privacy law, and utility customer facts should never be presumed open.

Protected people may have locational facts suppressed with more than one custodian. A lack of a visible address can result from a lawful exemption, an indexing mismatch, a recent change, or a source that was never designed to show occupants. Record uncertainty plainly. Do not turn absence into a claim that someone does not live in Hollywood.

Lawful use. Use Hollywood address records for lawful personal research, civic questions, genealogy, or property history. Never use them to stalk, harass, intimidate, or harm anyone.
